Faith Community Gives OE Formal Public Support

Postby kokomojo » Sun Nov 27, 2011 8:55 pm

Hi All,Today, Eugene Friends Meeting (the Quaker faith community near campus at 23rd and Onyx) has formally announced their support of Occupy Eugene and the extension of the exemption from the ban on camping. They will mail their letter of support (called a Minute) to City Council, address City Council during public hearings; place an ad in the RG and other press, send the Minute to other faith congregations asking for similar formal letters of support and endorsement. I will forward the final version of the Minute to the Communications Cttee tomorrow. Peace, Jen

wowsers! I wish I could get my "progressive" christian church to do the same, but the pastor claims it would be divisive. I'm tired with the emphasis on charity to repair the damages of the domination system, and fear of involvement in systemic change!
