Gathers to analyze and address the relations between systems at different levels: the systems that emerge among us as members of the occupation itself, local and regional systems, and large-scale systems (national or international, for instance). We are committed to developing workable proposals for concrete action at all three levels. OE is unique ... people are moving in and off the site. This means two things can happen:

1) There is no order and people just pretty much do whatever they want. Keep in mind, any child can be born into any culture and 'culture' is a construct of the Mind not our biology. This means that none of us have an 'innate' way we do things. We must learn. Every culture has multiple ways 'we do things'. Those ways can be very subtle. This means that people coming onsite will not know 'how things are done'. Because the 'open democracy' is promoted with certain concepts: no leaders, no rules, no hierarchy and consensus this can cause chaos.

2) We can give form to 'how we do things'. So here are some for your consideration. Functional democracies work incredibly well. If the world had fallen apart we would not have the leisure to believe we are just babies learning. Babies have to be taught 'how-to' just as all humans have to be taught what foods are safe or poisonous even though being hungry is physiological. If physiological processes need 'skills', cultural is defined by the skills of 'how we do things'.

While there are many Principles that guide communities I'm going to focus on KISS (keep it simple stupid) and KOTO (know one, teach one). One goal of Occupy must be/should be and had better be helping each other to learn the skills to set up functional communities if the world does fall apart. We need many, many more skilled people so chaos does not rule.

There is NO order of importance:

1) TOWN CRIER:
* Several people who hang out at either Info booth or Welcoming Center
* Sent throughout camp with announcements. Presently Mic Check is used
* We create 'jobs' for more people
* If someone has something that 'the camp' needs to know or errand must be run then Town Crier can be sent around camp.
* Pass on news of 'classes, teach-ins, committees or affinity groups' starting or even decisions made. They become the 'news agency'.
* When people need volunteers

2) COMMUNITY EXPECTATION ONSITE

* KOTO
* Volunteers are taught 'how to do things' with the task they are doing. As they become more skilled they take more responsibility and start to teach others.
* See viewtopic.php?f=37&t=186 and go down to the Welcome from Welcoming Committee ... knowing 'how we do things' start at the beginning.
* Self-management, entrepreneurship, creativity, willing to 'work' in a team using cooperativism and 'seeing what needs to be done' need to be valued, explained, encouraged, praised and 'the norm'.
* Skills should be shared rapidly, generously and as much as possible. We need more 'skilled' people coming out of the Occupy sites.
* Skilled people set up 'this is how we do things' for the specific task. Skills are variable based on tasks. We want everyone to have multiple skills, be able to take responsibility and we want people to learn through both observation of skills and then 'doing' when necessary rather then having people do lots of things poorly.

3) SAFETY CLUSTER

* Color armed bands so people know who is: medical, safety, security etc.

4) CREATE PUBLIC WORKS CLUSTER

* Idea brought forth by Big John

5) HAVE GA FOCUS ON ONE OR MORE COMMITTEE NEEDS

* Kitchen, engineering, medical or other tell GA attendees what is needed right now and get volunteers and committed help.
