Occupy Radio: July 31, 2013, Tim DeChristopher

Climate activist, Tim DeChristopher spent 21 months in jail because he protested an illegal oil and gas lease sale in the Canyonlands of Utah. The auction was ruled illegal and canceled, but Judge Dee Benson prohibited Tim from using the canceled sale as evidence in his trial. Judge Benson also prohibited Tim from using his political beliefs and moral convictions as part of his defense. However, Tim’s politics were front and center when he was sentenced.

If the government hoped to break Tim DeChristopher, they were wrong. This week on Occupy Radio, Tim tells us how he was strengthened by the experience of going to prison for his convictions. Tim talks about his new-found celebrity and his plans to make use of it to help change the face of activism and politics in America.
