WHOVILLE AT THE FEDERAL BUILDING ON 7TH & PEARL
The Federal Building on 7th & Pearl is a traditional place to practice free speech in Eugene. It is where Occupy Eugene and SLEEPS protested on multiple occasions and it was a logical place for Whoville to go when everyone was too worn out to keep being moved over and over again. The City of Eugene does not have jurisdiction on Federal property, so it is the job of Homeland Security and the General Services Administration (GSA) to address issues at the Old Federal Building. It is also a federal crime for any wrong doing on the property, so when the authorities targeted Nathan Showers for being Whoville’s “leader”, he quickly accumulated 3 federal tickets. Whoville left the site and moved back to the public land on 8th & Mill Street.
