Vickie lives in one of the Conestoga Huts at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Eugene. She loves her little hut and is extremely happy to call it home. She expresses much thanks to CSS, the church and the parking program at St. Vincent De Paul–all the programs that make her shelter possible. When the man comes to clean her port-a-potty, he says its the cleanest in town and she gives him pastries with a smile. This is not the typical scene most Americans relate to as living unhoused. Eugene should be proud of programs like these that really help improve people lives. Thank you to the UU Church for giving space for people like Vickie to live in a Conestoga Hut instead of being forced to seek shelter under a bridge or in a much less safe location.
