INTERVIEWS WITH PEOPLE LIVING AT THE NW EXPRESSWAY SAFE SPOT FOR AGES 20-40

Many young people leave home for reasons that are completely valid and after finding themselves unhoused at a very early age, it is incredibly difficult to change their situation. Not having ID is a huge barrier to getting a job or house and yet you cannot get ID without a residential address.  Countless young people struggle endlessly to get past the issue of not being able to get ID.  Because of that and numerous other reasons, some give up and resort to a life on the streets as the only option that seems available.

Through the Safe Spot at the NW Expressway, CSS hopes to give young people a helping hand up.  One of their main focuses in a Safe Spot is to aid residents in attaining housing.  Some need help getting disability.  Some just need a supportive environment.  The Safe Spot for age 20-40 is full of people with unique stories and serious goals.  Some residents  got the support they needed from CSS already and transitioned to their own place to live.  Each one of us has our own story and most successful people can pinpoint a moment when someone gave them a break.  It’s exciting to see a program like the Safe Spots, really making a difference in people’s lives and offering that chance that could change everything.
