The United States is a prison state without parallel. With 5% percent of the world’s population, the Land of the Free holds 25% of the world’s prisoners. When states lock up millions of people in densely crowded prisons, environmental impacts, to the prisoners, and the hosting communities, are sure to follow. Panagioti Tsolkas, of The Prison Ecology Project, joins Occupy Radio to talk about the environmental impacts of the US Prison State.
Justin Turnage returns with good news from Fayetteville, Arkansas. After a brief setback, Fayetteville voters just passed a Uniform Civil Rights ordinance giving equal protection in housing, and work places to a wide range of protected people.
