Apologies, but no results were found.
After Occupy Eugene was evicted its Washington Jefferson site, the parking program made accommodations for some locations to allow people to live in tent shelters. Community Alliance of Lane County (CALC) was one of the first organizations to have someone in a tent live on their property. Roger was their first lucky resident. He was the last person to leave the Occupy Eugene protest site at Washington Jefferson Park. He refused to leave, calling for solutions for veterans like himself who needed to be allowed to at least provide themselves legal shelter to be able to sleep.
Michael Carrigan from CALC was there to help Roger when he finally left the park. Michael worked hard to help give him a place to be. First Roger lived there in a tent and then he was given a Conestoga Hut. He is very happy to have his little hut and loves to share his life stories with anyone who comes by and cares to listen. Roger is a jewelry maker with several goals that he is working toward. He hopes to get issues with his veterans benefits straightened out and have an apartment of his own by next year. Two other campers live there in tents now also. They have a beautiful garden there and when you visit, it really feels like CALC has lived up to its name–creating valuable Community Alliances in Lane County.
