The First Christian Church (FCC) is one of several churches in Eugene who have conestoga huts on their property. Even though the huts are small, they give the unhoused who live in them several vital benefits. Most importantly they offer shelter from the elements and a legal place to sleep. Also very important is the access to a port-a-potty and a secure place to leave belongings. This is crucial because carrying everything you own everywhere you go is exhausting and also a serious barrier when looking for work. At least one person has transitioned into housing after living in a hut at FCC. By providing a place for people to live in Conestoga Huts, the First Christian Church is actively helping their community in a very real way.
