The Conestoga Hut uses minimal materials, is simple-to-build, and provides durable shelter well suited to the Pacific Northwest climate. This shelter emphasizes keeping its inhabitant warm and dry without the use of electric inputs.
An unhoused person will tell you that living in a Conestoga Hut improves the quality of their life tenfold. The huts are small but they help their inhabitants tremendously; by giving them a place where they can have their basic needs met. When you are unhoused, a lot of energy that could be better spent is used figuring out a place to hide, so you can sleep or carrying everything you own everywhere you go. Many people have already transitioned out of their huts because having one gave them the time and energy they needed to work on improving their lives.
