OCCUPY EUGENE’S (OE) FIRST BIG RALLY & MARCH – A DAY OF RAGE – October 15, 2011
On October 15, 2011 Occupy Eugene gathered in solidarity with the nationwide Occupy movement to protest corporate greed and the politicians who enable it. Approximately 2,000 people marched through the streets to proudly display support of a movement that shook up the entire planet, and brought attention to urgent issues affecting everyday people.
On October 14, 2011 Occupy Eugene announced on this website, “the march would demonstrate to our entire community that true democracy is still alive and well”. With thousands attending, it did just that! The human rights movement that resulted from Occupy also demonstrates our ongoing efforts to create a democracy for all in the city of Eugene. We are not leaving became Occupy Eugene’s slogan for a reason and if you show up at any event meant to confront one of the many problems that need solved, you will meet an Occupier.
