OURS (Occupy the Universal Right to Survive) – Interviews with Advocates Helping People in Protest Camps

It takes a lot of support from community members to help a Protest Camp.   First the camp has to have found another piece of public land to go to.  The community kitchen and port-a-potty have to go to the new site and it takes people with vehicles to move the large items.   While even the most burdened unhoused person has very little compared to even a single room in a house, it is a lot to deal with; as the camp is evicted with no place to go, over and over again.

Everything to survive, each person carries.  These items are all they have.  When the camp moves it is emotional for those being evicted yet again and there is so much work to do.  Advocates helping with these camps are remarkable people that really care.

They see our unhoused as the results of our economic system and social choices.  Virtually everyday they make themselves available for emotional support, physical help, and more for these camps.  Their work is inspiring because it shows that you can make a difference in someone’s life and therefore the world, if you spend a little of your time doing things to help with the solutions you care about.
