NIGHTINGALE HEALTH SANCTUARY (NHS)
NHS is a self-governed village-style community focused on health and wellness. It’s mission is to provide a safe and supportive community that is inclusive and accessible for people who are unhoused. On Monday, Dec. 8 the Eugene City Council approved Nightingale Health Sanctuary (NHS) to have temporary use of a piece of county land near the Lane County Behavioral Health building at 2411 MLK Jr. Boulevard. December 22, 2014 NHS opened a double rest spot serving 30 unhoused residents and helping countless others. They were originally allowed to stay until April and then given an extension to August 14, 2015.
