The 1983 Supreme Court ruling in Beardon v Georgia made it clear that
courts could not revoke probation for those who justifiably could not
afford to pay their fines. Over the last two decades a mulit-million
dollar industry has grown up in direct defiance of the Beardon
ruling. The American Southeast is littered with tales of
unconstitutional imprisonment, with whole communities traumatized by
the Private Probation industry.
Sam Brooke joins Occupy Radio to report on the Southern Poverty Law
Center’s aggressive campaign to drive the worst elements of the
Private Probation industry out of business.

David Geitgey Sierralupe prefers you call him Getch. As Dr. Seuss once
noted, there are way too many Daves. When not plotting to Occupy the
Media through an activist, internet media hub, Getch remodels homes
in Eugene, Oregon.
