When people moved into OVE on August 16, 2013, many of them began by staying in their tent while their tiny house was being built. It was a lot of work to get the village up and running. It took many volunteers and residents to make the village the beautiful site it is today. Their first winter was cold with no common meeting place to get warm until months later when the yurt was set up. Residents were very happy for Spring.
On May 31, 2014 they celebrated with the first Opportunity Village Eugene Open House. Many of Eugene’s community members came. The event featured live music, good food and guests welcomed to tour the village with a resident as a guide. It was a fun day that reflected everyone’s feelings of success well deserved.
