Occupy the Eugene Celebration Parade: A Roof for All

A BETTER WORLD IS POSSIBLE!   JOIN US!

Haven’t you always wanted to be in a parade?  Want to be an evil bankster?  A police officer?  A tent monster?

This year’s parade theme is “Raise the Roof’.”  Occupy’s spin is a “A Roof For All,” in support of housing as a human right.  Super special skit.  Details at PARADE PREP PARTY, Thursday at 4:30 at OE V, at 7th and Polk.  Or come the morning of the parade and we’ll catch you up.  This will be fun and G rated. Come have fun with friends, even those friends you have not met yet.

STILL NEEDED ITEMS:  We still need tents, broken ones preferred, as once a tent monster always a tent monster, rendering it useless as a tent.
We are also looking for as many Occupy bandannas as possible.  There are hundreds out there.  Bring them with you!

PARADE DETAILS:  Saturday morning, August 25, 2012.   ENTRY 33.

STAGING AREA: Amazon Parkway, near 24th. Area will be closed to cars at 8:30 a.m. If you need to park close by, arrive early.

TIME: Gather between 8:30 and 9:30. Parade starts at 10:00. It will give us a chance to practice our skit and bring any newcomers up to speed. Let’s make a party of it with potluck food, coffee, and laughter.

Dave Lippman/Wild Bill Bailout Benefit for Occupy

Wild Bill Bailout, the Bard of the Bankers, and satirical songster Dave Lippman bring their Fairly Balanced Cabaret to Eugene on Friday, August 3, 8:30 PM at Cozmic, 199 W. 8th.  Admission $7-10 (no one turned away for lack of funds).  This is a benefit for Occupy Eugene/Occupy Housing and Foreclosure Action Committee.

It’s Occupy vs Occu-Buy with veteran satirical songster Dave Lippman fired up, and Wild Bill Bailout firing back over healthcare, warfare, climate scare and market bear, coming to Eugene with gut-busting political comedy and moving commentary. Bard of the Bankers Wild Bill Bailout represents the pro-torture, pro-war, pro-financial collapse point of view – in song. Get ready for high-end pop parodies and some very wise cracks. Visit http://davelippman.com for audio and video samples of the show.  Benefit sponsored by ACT (A Community Together – Lane County).

Occupy This: Rally for Pesticide Justice

Occupy This: Rally for Pesticide Justice
Beginning at noon Saturday July 7th at the Wayne Morse Free Speech Plaza, Pitchfork Rebellion and Occupy Triangle Lake are staging a rally to call for an immediate end to the aerial spraying of timber industry pesticides near homes and schools.
Recent studies found that nearly everyone that lives in Oregon has timber industry pesticide in their urine. Also, pesticides can be carried in the wind up to 20 miles from locations subject to aerial spraying. Triangle Lake residents live amidst the clear-cuts and have the highest levels, but all of us are getting it in the air we breathe, according to a recent study.
There will be Sol Seed playing Reggae music and several speakers including Day Owen and Roy Keene. Day Owen speaks on “Monsanto Sucks” and Roy exposes “Weyerhaeuser and its crimes against our forests.” The rally will end about 4:20 PM.

Norman Rousseau Memorial Site at Wells Fargo

On May 26th occupiers from the Occupy Homes and Foreclosure Actions Committee will be creating a memorial site at the 99 E Broadway Wells Fargo in memory of Norman Rousseau. Norman lived in California and on May 13th, took his life two days before Wells Fargo took his home.

The Rousseau’s story is tragic and unfortunately not an isolated case.

The site is dedicated towards remembering one of many victims of the criminal foreclosure crisis, and help Oriane Rousseau ensure that “no other family has to endure what she’s been through.”

The site will be setup at 9:30am and the goal is to keep it at Wells Fargo for as long as possible. If you feel inclined, visit to pay your respects, leave some flowers, or anything else appropriate.

OE Hosts Foreclosure Prevention Workshop

Occupy Eugene’s Foreclosures Action Committee will host a workshop by Tim Moxley, Friday, June 22, 7-9 p.m., in EWEB’s Community Room, 500 E. 4th, Eugene. This event is free and open to the public.

Many foreclosures currently underway are illegal under Oregon law. This workshop will train you to examine county records to determine whether or not a foreclosure is legal. This skill will empower you to stand up to the banks.

This press release is from the Communications Committee of Occupy Eugene that has been empowered to speak on behalf of the larger Occupy Eugene body.
